What is the Lower Earn Trust

The Lower Earn Trust (LET) is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) and a Registered Charity No SC052869. It was established in 2024 to receive, manage and redistribute funds received from a variety of sources (notably windfarms in the local area) for the benefit of the Lower Earn community, which covers the area shown in the map below. With Bridge of Earn lying at its centre, it covers an area from Forteviot in the west to Rhynd in the east, and Aberdalgie in the north to Stronachie in the south.

Mission

The Mission of the Lower Earn Trust is to encourage self-help in the community and to allow it to find a way of choosing its own path in provision of projects to benefit the community.

Purposes

The purposes of the Lower Earn Trust are to fund-raise, apply for grants, accumulate funds, manage applications and make grant awards to local charities and charitable projects within the Ward of Earn Community Council.

  • The advancement of education;

  • The advancement of health;

  • The advancement of citizenship or community development;

  • The advancement of public participation in sport;

  • The provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended;

  • The advancement of environmental protection or improvement.

News

Annual General Meeting
The Lower Earn Trust AGM will be held on Tuesday, 7th July in the Millenium Hall, Dunbarney Church at 7.30pm.  We are seeking new members to the Trust - see attached.  All welcome.
 
Lower Earn Trust Grant Awards
The Lower Earn Trust held its second Grant Awards' meeting on 11th March.  The Trustees were delighted to make awards to totaling £3,291 to three successful applicants:
  • Earn Singers - £800
  • Forgandenny in Flower - £700
  • Brig in Boom - £1791

Closing Date for the Next Applications

The closing date for the next round of applications to be received is Wednesday, 12th August 2026 by 12.00 midday.  Applications will be reviewed by the Trustees on 9th September and responses provided to the applicants on 16th September.  See Grant Application Process for other dates in 2026/2027.

Please note the following:

  • The format of the Application Forms were revised on 18th May 2026.  Please use those available on this website from now on.

  • Due to the limited funds available, the Trustees have decided not to accept applications for Large or Multi-Year applications at this stage. 

  • Applicants are required to note that in all applications they are required to declare details of parallel applications to other funding bodies who may or have provided support to their project.
